MJ's Funeral →
I realized that this probably isn’t a reliable source after reading other headlines on this page (“Megan Fox is a Man!” “Egyptian Pharoah Flew on UFO,” “Palin Bags a Bigfoot,” etc.), but it doesn’t take away from the hilarity of the (circus) funeral described in the article.

I’ve had “progressive birthday” this year, starting with my mom’s recent visit (and spoiling), a steady trickle of birthday mail, a visit from and dinner with my dad on my birthday, calls and e-mails from friends and family, flowers and treats from coworkers, and a petite party with my roommates. WAY too much special treatment - but so appreciated! (I feel so very loved.)

I'm excited
because one of my roommates just told me that she’s going to look at a clarinet on the weekend, and will probably buy it. Goodbye, Sanity.
It was crunchy.
My family still makes fun of me for this one time when I was in Grade 2 when I wanted to wear my favourite track pants to school, but found a hole in the crotch - luckily, before I left home. So I did the logical thing - got out the craft glue, did some “mending,” then stuck ‘em back in the drawer and saved them for another day. The story is immortalized as “the time Deanna...

Today on the train, Thriller was playing in my ears, and I imagined what everyone on the train would look like if they were doing the dance in their seats, their space-y, tired expressions still on their faces. It was marvelous. (I am my own entertainment.)
This week’s trend: I pull out a partially rotten fruit, vegetable, or leftover from the fridge and present it to my roommates, exclaiming, “Questionable food of the day!” and then have it for supper. My standards are decaying.
Oh, Calgary
One of my favourite things about city life is how many interesting people I get to encounter everyday. I meet a lot of people who are also from Ontario around here, and they’re especially keen on striking up conversation. Typical small talk: “Whereabouts in Ontario?” “How long you been here?” and “Get to Banff while you’re here!” I’ve met a few...

How to Do 5:30
Early mornings (although 5:30 is still nighttime, if you ask me) are so much more bearable with music. These are my current alarms:
1. Human - The Killers (good for any occasion, really)
2. Fake Palindromes - Andrew Bird
3. Dokkoise House - Anathallo
4. Get Up Offa That Thang - James Brown (for obvious reasons)
5. Larger Than Life - Downhere
6. Every Day - Buddy Holly
7. Beautiful Life -...

Saturday’s discovery, downtown Calgary. SO great.
Cows and Taxes
That was the gist of my day. Darn right, it’s exciting.
Also, last Thursday I dropped a bottle of soya sauce in Wal-Mart - I was waiting in line for the self-checkout and it slipped out of my armload of groceries, sneaky little guy. If you want to make a scene, it’s definitely the way to go - you’ve got the sound of smashing glass and the ensuing mess…A big dramatic...
Moved in.
So everything has turned out positively so far…My plane was late, but I was picked up from the airport, and it was a grand time regardless. Roommates are cool, condo is lovely…I’ll post pictures somewhere some time soon. The only thing that is lacking so far is internet connection - come on, little signal bars!
Just about ready to go
The zoo is on the way to work!
How convenient.
